Skis, Trees and Not Enough Snow

Good Afternoon from a very rainy Switzerland! We have had an amazing few weeks here in the gorgeous Swiss Alps, the sun has shined every day for almost 2 weeks, giving us the most amazing sunrises and sunsets from our chalet perched 1400 metres up with glorious views across the valley to the mountains beyond – we can even see the famous Toblerone mountain from our living room! All of the constant sunshine has also given some of our students the most glorious goggle tans too!

Despite the lack of snow over recent weeks, the students are doing amazingly well and their skiing is coming on in leaps and bounds. They are spending most days out on the hill from 9 to 4.30 and coming back to the chalet with great stories from their days. Today a few of the students and a couple of our guests have spent the day in the jumps park ‘practicing’ their jumps onto the giant airbag!

Some of the more funny anecdotes of the last weeks include several crashes into trees and other static objects whilst skiing off piste, jumping over tree stumps and into rocks, 3 hour hikes after missing the last gondola, and quite a number of lost skis! 2 great missing ski stories of note are that of Reid and the 45 minute hunt with 14 kind French strangers with crazy American accents, and after an hour of searching for his missing ski, Tim enlisted the help of one of the resort staff and his funky metal detector who found his ski in a matter of minutes.

Fraser and Ewan have been getting lots of teaching hours for their BASI Level 2’s and Fraser has safely arrived in Val D’isere to do his level 2 over the next 2 weeks. And a massive congratulations to our wonderful Operations Director, Louise for passing her BASI Level 3 technical!
